 Want to be lucky?
Follow this advice:
1. Find a four-leaf clover. 2. Wear green (so you don't get pinched). 3. Kiss the blarney stone. 4. Catch a Leprechaun if you can.
Why Green?
There are many theories as to why green is the official color of this holiday. The most common ones are:
1. Shamrock is green in color
2. Green is the color of spring which starts around this time
3. Green is connected with nature and hope
4. Probably to honor Ireland, as it is nicknamed 'The Emerald Isle' for its plush green landscape.
Whatever be the reason, if someone forgets to wear green on St. Patrick's Day, those who are wearing green are allowed to give the offender a pinch as a reminder. However, if you pinch someone who is wearing green, that person gets to pinch you back ten times! School children started this tradition. :) Some of the biggest St. Patrick's Day parades are in Chicago, Illinois, New York City, and Savannah, Georgia. The city of Chicago goes as far as dying its river green!
